Folk Arts for Kids participants will explore visual art and heritage crafts through the creation of a variety of art projects. The workshop is a combination of project-oriented and process-oriented lessons where participants will delve deeper into their interests in the arts while creating a solid foundation for taking a project from start to finish. Participants will get the opportunity to present their work and reflect on the progress through critiques in an age appropriate environment. Participants will paint, print, weave, bind, mold, sew, experiment, and more as they learn about how the heritage crafts are connected to the world today. They will have the opportunity to experience the wider Augusta experience through coordination with other Augusta instructors while exploring the D&E campus with their sketchbooks.
Scholarships are available! Augusta wants every kid to get the chance to experience the joy of traditional arts. If tuition is a barrier for your family, please plan to apply for a scholarship. Applications will be available later in the spring.
