The Milnes Collection contains audio-visual recordings made and collected by the Augusta Heritage Center’s former Folk Arts Coordinator, Gerald Milnes. Throughout his career with Augusta, Milnes conducted field work to amass a large collection of oral histories, music, and event recordings. He recorded the bulk of the collection from the early 1970s to 2013, but the collection also includes tapes with earlier dates that others sent to him.
Strawberry was a neighbor of mine who I played with some as a teen around 1971 or 1972. I have some cassettes stored away of this if I can locate them. Would this be of interest to you? Thanks
Hi Michael! So cool that you played music with Strawberry as a teenager. Great musical memories, I’m sure! Yes, absolutely we’d be interested in the cassettes.
Well, I spent a long time going through my old tapes but that one I had from about ‘1970 seems to be long gone, just like the song. If it ever turns up, will let you know. Interesting character and musician and a great way for a young dude to be introduced to that kind of music. Thanks, Mike
