Notes: Talk of Ernie’s early life near Sutton, WV, cutting timber, swimming perils, playing with Thomas Dillon, talk of “Old Man” Hammonds’ fiddling and coming to visit the Carpenter family, Ernie’s grandfather teaching a young girl fiddle tunes, Ernie’s siblings playing instruments and playing at square dances with them, square dance calling, old fiddling contests, and audience questions.
