Banjo | Bennett Sullivan | Advanced | Period 2 | Week 5 (August 3-7. 2026)
This advanced banjo class will cover bluegrass improvisation and how to practice it effectively, blending melodic, Scruggs, and single-string styles, and an introduction to jazz concepts including 7th chords and chord-tone soloing. Students will also explore tune writing, with the goal of creating a new tune by the end of the class. Designed for advanced players, the class focuses on expanding musical freedom, stylistic fluency, and creative confidence.
About the Instructor
Bennett Sullivan is an in-demand banjo player, educator, session musician, and composer whose performed alongside Steve Martin, Martin Short, Billy Strings, Del McCoury, Sam Bush, Bela Fleck, Tony Trischka, Ben Sollee, Woody Platt, Shannon Whitworth, Weird Al Yankovic, Elle King, Balsam Range, Darren Nicholson, The Falco Brothers, John Sebastian, Maria Muldaur, Geoff Muldaur, Jim Kweskin, and many more.
