Bluegrass Week brings together some of the most incredible musicians on the bluegrass circuit today with students of all levels to share a week of learning, playing and deep listening. From the classes to the jams to the staff concert featuring electrifying collaborations from world-class musicians, there’s something for every bluegrass enthusiast at Augusta. We are excited to have Bluegrass Week advisor Jen Larson coordinating this week. Also, will will be offering our second year of Bluegrass Kids Academy for young musicians aged 9-14.
What students are saying about Augusta Bluegrass Week:
- “I really enjoy the cultural sessions for bluegrass and getting to hear the instructions in an intimate setting.”
- “This is my best music experience all year. I can just be myself trying to learn and I feel no pressure.”
- “I felt welcome in every jam that I passed by. It was as if I was enchanted by a musical spell that was cast upon me and calling me to come join in. Why isn’t real life more like that?”
- “This was my greatest experience with music that I’ve ever had. And I have a Master’s degree in Bassoon performance.”

Dudley has contributed his distinctive voice and guitar to the work of numerous artists, including Hazel Dickens, Seneca Rocks, and the supergroup
Longview. In 2000 he received the International Bluegrass Music Association’s award for Male Vocalist of the Year.

Tyler Grant
Guitar
Tyler Grant grew up in the sagebrush hills of Southern California. As a teen, he was taken by music & followed this calling to the University, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance from California Institute of the Arts (CalArts). A rocker by nature (his early tenure in the Electric Waste Band earned him a spot in the San Diego Music Hall of Fame), Tyler was pursuing the Classical path when he discovered Flatpicking guitarists Tony Rice & David Grier. Shortly after graduation, Tyler moved to Nashville, where he spent years touring with Abigail Washburn, Adrienne Young & Little Sadie, and April Verch, before getting the call to join the Drew Emmitt Band (co-founder of Leftover Salmon), which evolved into the Emmitt-Nershi Band (ft. Bill Nershi, of The String Cheese Incident). These Colorado-based acts lured the Flatpicker to the Rocky Mountains, where he has lived since 2009. In 2010, Tyler founded the Cosmic Americana band Grant Farm, which toured steadily & released five albums before the “Great Pause” of 2020 forced an indefinite hiatus and a significant Pandemic Pivot into Outdoor Leadership and Whitewater Raft Guiding. Tyler’s 2025 release, Flatpicker, tells part of this story but there is much more to tell…
It’s these unique experiences and a structured, methodical approach to teaching that have gained Tyler students and accolades as an instructor all around the world. His Flatpicking Academy is open for enrollment online at ArtistWorks.

Tapestry Weaving (Your New Favorite Hobby!) with Nevada Tribble
In this beginner-friendly class, students will learn how to make their own unique tapestries with a frame loom. Students will begin by creating a miniature tapestry project to learn the essentials of weaving, and practice skills like warping, changing colors, hiding ends, and finishing techniques. After that initial project, we will dive in deeper. Students will use larger tabletop frame looms to explore a variety of textural techniques and different stitches, and learn how to design both geometric and organic shapes. Students will be encouraged to explore their own artistic style and learn how to combine techniques, colors, and shapes in a way that supports their creative vision. Over the course of the four day class, students will create at least one miniature tapestry and two larger ones (& more if time allows). Students will leave with the skills to continue weaving at home, and the confidence to create beautiful tapestries with this fun and relaxing creative outlet. (Suitable for brand-new or beginner/intermediate tapestry weavers)
Nevada Tribble is an interdisciplinary fiber artist who finds inspiration by seeking out patterns in nature. All of Augusta’s Summer Theme Weeks are organized in a period model. This means that you can create your daily schedule to study the exact combination of instruments, styles and techniques that is right for you. Most instructors are teaching during 2 of the 3 periods each day, plus participating in jams and dances. You will choose a class during Period 1 and take that same class all week. The same thing goes for Periods 2 and 3 — same class all week. You will end up with three different classes that you are taking all week. We have worked hard to make sure there is a path for every student each day, no matter your instrument or level.

The Baker’s Daughter X Augusta Heritage Center

Zoe Uhrig
Hello Augusta Participants! I’m Zoe Uhrig, the Baker’s Daughter. I have the biggest passion to bake and create the most scrumptious meals that bring people together around the dinner table. In 2023, our family moved to this charming corner of Appalachia from England where my brothers Roman, Christian and I were born. Growing up, I worked by my father Ron’s side in our family’s New York deli style ( Chef Ron’s Kitchen) in Norwich, UK. Now together with him and in the amazing Augusta building; I run the Baker’s Daughter here in downtown Elkins. We are so excited to partner with Augusta and make you family-style meals “straight from the heart” while you are here next summer. More information will be announced soon but until then, take a look below to get to know my family and what type of delights we like to make, I think you are going to like it!
Our Family:
To my right is my younger brother Christian, he lives in Nashville, TN. In the middle is my Mum (Joanne), she was born in Tottenham, London. She loves a cup of tea and a chat. Next is my older brother Roman, he works for the Augusta Heritage Center. He helps me with social media and front of house service duties alongside Mum. On the end is my Dad (Ron), he is from Baltimore, MD and made artisan bread and pastries all over America before meeting Mum and moving to England where he ran his own bakeries and restaurants.
