We will spend our time together immersed in learning steps from some of my favorite Appalachian flatfooters including Thomas Maupin, Lou Maiuri, D. Ray White, Ellen & Eugene Ratcliffe and several others. We will focus on improvisation, musicality, syncopation and learn how to “dance the tune.”
We will learn steps and then deconstruct them with the hopes that everyone will walk away with an ability to create their own steps on the dance floor inspired by the tradition
bearers. We will also work on basic partnering skills and weave our way through group clogging. Come ready to dance in either leather-bottomed or smooth-soled shoes. Bring your questions and we’ll have a little dance party.
