Brian Wicklund | Bluegrass Mandolin | Beginning | Week 2 ( Full Day )

The Beginning Mandolin class at 2022 Augusta Bluegrass Week will cover secrets to creating great tone; how to develop bluegrass solos; bluegrass jam skills; various instrumental standards; creating variations; open, chop, and barre chords; basic music theory applicable to bluegrass; and other topics that students bring to the class.

Students should bring a notepad and audio/video recording device (a smartphone is fine). Bring medium to heavy flat picks.

Instructor Bio

Brian is widely regarded as among the top mandolin and fiddle teachers and elite performers in the country. He is the author the best-selling book series The American Fiddle Method, published by Mel Bay, and heads the americanfiddlemethod.com online school. He has been a regular fiddle and mandolin instructor at top camps and workshops in the US, Canada, UK, and Sweden including Rocky Grass, Sore Fingers, Nash Camp, Targhee, and many more, in addition to Augusta. Brian has been a member of bluegrass bands for decades, including Stoney Lonesome, the Judith Edelman Band, the Kathy Kallick Band, and the Chris Stuart Band.
