Instructor Bio
Sandra Canizares, born in Havana, Cuba, is an energetic, dynamic workshop leader and choral director
specialized in Cuban Music. With more than 20 years of experience instructing students in instrumentation and general music theory. As a choir conductor she has participated in several contests and festivals around the world, always bringing the Cuban experience as a unique tool.
Her experience lies in teaching comprehensive music lessons and leading choirs for people and groups of all ages from kindergarten to adults, while cultivating an environment that stimulates increasing and ongoing music appreciation.
“As a fervent advocate of musical education, I possess a keen ability to coach and mentor students and choir members to successfully pursue various music-related opportunities.”
Along with her teaching accomplishments, she has also held prestigious professional positions, including hosting multiple master classes and workshops, participating in festivals and accepting several Music Director appointments for groups and churches.
Since 2020 she is the Music Director of the First Baptist church in Greenwood IN, providing leadership of the church choir, praise team, Bell Choir and Children’s choir and contemporary music program.
