Lift Your Voice Choir 2024

Lift Your Voice is a community choir directed by Emily Miller and run by the Augusta Heritage Center. The choir’s repertoire features music from a variety of Appalachian musical traditions, especially those found in West Virginia, as well as a selection of songs from related traditions around the world. The choir is launching its 5th season in Spring 2024.

The singers will be directed by Emily Miller, with guest workshops from Angie Richardson, Gerry Milnes, Olivia Perske and Val Mindel. The concert program will feature traditional vocal music from several exciting musical traditions found right here in West Virginia, including gospel, old-time, Italian, shape-note and more. Singers will come away with a beautiful repertoire of new songs, a deeper understanding of the cultures they grew out of, and the lasting joy of singing together. Singers of all levels, ages and vocal ranges are welcome! The project, supported by the WV Department of Arts, Culture and History, is aimed at increasing opportunities for creative aging and lifelong learning in our community.

Rehearsals take place on Tuesdays from 6-8pm. The start date for Spring 2024 season is April 2, 2024, with a concert on Friday, June 14, 2024.

Registration is on a sliding scale of $40 to $200 for the season, with singers choosing the amount they can contribute.
