Guitar | Josh Wanstreet | Beginning | Evening Mini-Class | Week 3 (July 22-25, 2024)
The goal of this class will be for students to learn the basic fundamentals of playing chords such as strumming patterns for old-time music and working on developing your ear to hear chord changes more easily over time. A device for audio recording, even simply just a smartphone, is encouraged.
Mini-classes are held Monday through Thursday the week of programming from 6:00-7:15pm. They may be taken in addition to daytime classes or on their own. Cost is $75.
About the Instructor
Josh Wanstreet’s love for traditional, old-time music was first developed in 1995 when he first learned of the rich tradition of West Virginia old-time music and ballad singing. Over the years he has taught at workshops and given private guitar and fiddle lessons and performed regularly throughout West Virginia. He lives in Elkins, West Virginia where he and a group of volunteers known as The Elkins Barn Dance Collective organize monthly dances.
