Augusta Festival in the Elkins City Park

Get ready for a day filled with creativity, music, and family fun at the Augusta Festival and Craft Fair, set to take place at Elkins City Park on Saturday, July 29. This highly anticipated event will bring together talented vendors from around the state, offering their exquisite handmade items, delicious food, and much more! With craft demonstrations, kids’ activities, jams, and even an open fiddle and banjo contest, there will be something for everyone to enjoy. Rain or shine, this festival promises to be a memorable experience for all attendees.

The festival grounds will be buzzing with excitement from 10 am to 5 pm, providing ample time for visitors to explore the various attractions.

Here’s a sneak peek at the schedule of events:
10 – 10:30 am – Storytelling at the Green Pavilion: Kick off the festivities with captivating stories from renowned storyteller Mike Perry. His engaging tales will captivate audiences of all ages.
10 – 11 am – “Flatfooting Workshop” at the Workshop Tent: Join Will Roboski for an energetic flatfooting workshop where you can learn this traditional Appalachian dance style. No experience is necessary, so put on your dancing shoes and join in the fun!
10:00 am onwards – “Interactive Demonstrations” at the Folkways Tent and Vendor Booths: Immerse yourself in the world of crafts as you explore screenprinting, felting, weaving, quilting, and other traditional arts. Throughout the day, various artisans will showcase their skills, allowing you to witness the creation process firsthand.
10:30 am – “Community Sing” at the Green Pavilion: Sing your heart out and join in a lively community sing-along. This musical gathering will create an atmosphere of togetherness and joy.
11 am – 3 pm – Interact Children’s Museum at the Shelter Pavilion: The little ones will have a blast at the Kids’ Activities area. Children will learn and discover through interactive displays and activities.
11:30 am – “Watercolor Workshop” at the Workshop Tent: Dive into the world of watercolor painting with Rosalie Haizlett. This workshop is limited to 15 participants, so be sure to arrive early to secure your spot.
12:00 pm – “Storyteller” at the Green Pavilion: Gather around and listen to Mike Perry’s enchanting stories that will transport you to another time and place.
12:30 pm – “Banjo Contest” at the Green Pavilion: Are you skilled with a banjo? Register for the open banjo contest and showcase your talents. Registration will be open until the contest starts at 1:00 pm.
1:00-2:00 pm – Weaving On Rocks with Kiki Alba: Dress up a rock by weaving right onto it! All materials will be provided, or bring a favorite rock or stone (smooth, flat ones work well).
1:30 pm – Storytelling at the Green Pavilion: Mike Perry returns to captivate audiences once again with his spellbinding storytelling.
2:00 pm – “Fiddle Contest” at the Green Pavilion: Calling all fiddlers! Participate in the open fiddle contest and compete for the top prize. Registration will be open until the contest begins at 2:30 pm.
3:00 pm – “Old-Time Jam” at the Green Pavilion: Experience the joy of traditional music as local musicians gather for an old-time jam session. Feel free to bring your instrument and join in the harmonious celebration.

The fun doesn’t end when the sun goes down! Following the Augusta Festival and Craft Fair, the vibrant festivities will continue with the highly anticipated 3rd Annual Augusta Block Party. From 7 pm to 11 pm, Kerens Avenue in front of El Gran Sabor will come alive with music, dancing, and a celebration of community spirit. This evening extravaganza promises to be an unforgettable experience for all attendees.
The Augusta Block Party will kick off with the sensational sounds of the Jesse Milnes Band. Known for their infectious energy and toe-tapping tunes, this talented group will set the stage ablaze with their Honky-Tonk style. Get ready to sway, dance, and immerse yourself in the lively atmosphere.
Following the Jesse Milnes Band, prepare to be enchanted by the sensational Sweetback Sisters. This dynamic duo is renowned for their unique blend of country, swing, and honky-tonk music. Their harmonious vocals, catchy melodies, and captivating stage presence are sure to captivate the crowd and keep everyone grooving late into the night.
The Augusta Block Party is not only a celebration of music and community but also an opportunity to connect with fellow festival-goers and create lasting memories. Dance under the stars, sing along with the bands, and let the joyful atmosphere fill your heart with a sense of camaraderie.
