Robby Moore | Mixed Media Collage & Textiles | Week 2 ( Full Day )

Students will explore the elements of art and principles of design using various collage techniques. Drawing inspiration from traditional Appalachian crafts like quilts and weaving, we will create media and use found media to create artwork. Through this exploration students will also become more confident with abstraction and creativity

Needed tools:
Scissors and/or exacto knife
Glue sticks
Pencil
Sketchbook

Optional materials:
Fabric, needle and thread, tape, various papers, water based paint, ink, pens, colored pencil, plastic bags, magazines, books, any material you would like to experiment with and could incorporate in a collage.

Materials fee of $25 will be payable to the instructor

Instructor Bio

Robby Moore was born and currently resides in Beckley, West Virginia. He is a mixed media artist and graduated with a Bachelor of Art degree in Studio Arts and a minor in Theatre from Concord University. He began professionally exhibiting artwork in 1999. In 2004, Moore co-founded Treehouse Arts Ensemble, an arts organization dedicated to producing original fine and performing art in West Virginia. He has curated many art exhibitions in West Virginia and Ohio. Moore is a theatrical director and has also worked professionally as a scenic designer/artist, costumer, actor, technician and marionette puppeteer. From 2011 to 2016, he was a Tamarack resident studio artist at Tamarack in Beckley, WV, and has been a juried artist there since 2008.  In February 2021, his work was chosen for the WV Art Fund Purchase at Lafayette Flats. Moore was named Best Artist in the state in WV Living magazine’s Winter 2021 issue. His work has been exhibited in various spaces including the Juliet Art Museum in Charleston, WV and The Huntington Museum in Huntington, WV.
